SUCCESS STORIES FOR ASHA

Maria Thejeswini CP-148

I Maria Thejeshwini. B is the D/o Balthazar and Mary Agnes. As everyone has their own life stories I too have my own different life story from others. As I move on from my school life till I finish my degree it was very difficult task to complete.

To say about my family, I have two siblings my sweet sister and my cute little brother who are studying in 11th and 10th grade respectively. My father was a daily wage worker before, now he is a sericulturist and mother is a house wife. There is a saying that” Try try try again until you succeed...... by following this proverb I began to study hard and hard and now I am a successfully graduated student and I have also written my exam for a post of bank manager which was my dream. I am very sure that I will be a bank manager and further I will be in a very good position. Reason for all these achievements of mine and my family is “ASHA Charitable Trust Sponsorship Programme” because of this sponsorship programmes or a scheme I am standing in this position.
When I joined school, my parents did not have money to pay my school fees, uniform or books etc. As my father was a daily wage worker, our whole family was depending upon him. Sometimes it was a situation where my father use to spend his entire wage to pay the debt and come home with empty hand and we use to sleep in a empty stomach. As the life moved on it was very very difficult for me to continue my studies. It was a time when I was studying in 4th standard. By God’s Grace and blessings I was selected as a sponsor child from ASHA Charitable Trust Sponsorship Programme. From that day till my graduation everything has changed. Further it is because of their support and encouragement I have been a good successful person I can say. I was selected in this blessed trust. They are the saviours of my life. By their support not only to me but also to my family’s financial position very much improved. As I am in such a family and a place where it was difficult to get basic necessities.

But I never felt like this because of this sponsorship programme, they were not only sponsoring but also they use to make an arrangement in our own places only to improve in our studies, well being and encouragement programmes through camps for at least 3 to 4 days and twice in a year. Then I was very much impressed by their programme and their support and encouragement I started studying very hard. I was placed first in class and also very responsible leader. I was studying in Kannada medium with good marks and percentages till 7th standard. This ASHA Trust helped me and supported me to join in English medium from 8th standard. As I was in a village where there are no proper teachers to teach me, I came to Bangalore. When I came to Bangalore just for only one week I went to school, I started crying because it was very difficult for me to understand and study in English medium. I told my parents about the school and I planned to go back to the old Kannada Medium School. But this ASHA Trust never let me down they held me up with their arms like how the mother takes care of the child it took care of me. They helped me so much not only in my studies but also in my extracurricular activities like singing, dancing, games, developing good leadership characteristics and to be very responsible person. To tell the truth I never knew what is the leadership responsibility, caring, helping etc. I learnt through this ASHA Sponsorship Programme which was held in summer and winter holidays. Through this sponsorship I feel all my difficulties in studies are vanished. I feel very proud that I am one of the sponsored child who has successfully completed the studies.

As I get a job and start earning I promise that I will also sponsor a child who is in a condition of mine when I was child, with a dream of a successful person like me.

Thank you
